Merry Christmas and Happy New Year – I say that, or I write that.

Maybe Happy Holidays – since it is The Holiday season. – It isn’t very likely but it is possible…If I know you don’t celebrate Christmas but don’t know what you do celebrate if anything…I just wouldn’t bet on it.
Perhaps happy Chanukah if I know you and know that you are Jewish and that you celebrate Chanukah.
Perhaps Merry Yule – if I’m at a Yule event.
Quite likely Happy Hogswatch if I know you are a fellow Pratchett fan…
I – Don’t – Do – Politically Correct.
If I know you celebrate something else…I’ll do my best to wish you happy ‘whatever’ because that’s just polite.
If I don’t know you, you get ‘Merry Christmas and Happy New Year’ – if that offends you, tough luck, suck it up and deal with it.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,
Ulrich

YOU ARE SUCH A GRINCH!!!!! (and yes.. I’m yelling at you…!) Don’t be a Debbie Downer Dude!!
+++ Yea, I’m a Grinch…whats your point?
From a fellow Grinch,
Dude, I hear ya. Except it’s Merry Christmas from me to everyone.
I’m not against Christmas but against spending WAY too much money(most of the time money folks don’t have) on crap that won’t get used after a month instead of getting gifts that actually mean something to giftee.
+++ I’m right with you brother…I used to be all about some Christmas, but at some point it just became all…too much…I think if we started celebrating christmas even just 12 days before it happened (say around the 13th) I’d probably be ok with it. But since everyone starts (at the latest) by Thanksgiving, by the time we get half way to Christmas I’m done, fed up with all of the hype and had all of the ‘Christmas Cheer’ one person should have to endure….none the less Merry Christmas to you and yours brother.
I think “happy holidays” carries with it a hidden agenda in singling out one holiday for generic treatment. …sort of like “take that” with a smile. I recommend the following post, which I enjoyed: http://deligentia.wordpress.com/2009/11/29/happy-holidays-as-a-weapon/
