No this isn’t about Flip Wilson, or even Geraldine though I could have called it “what you see is what you get”…either works for a title. – (ok so only 4 of you out there even got part of any of those references…luckily its my blog – hence about me…but thanks for letting me share it with you. 
I could go into a lot of detail about the subject I’m going to cover, but I wouldn’t do it justice. I’m just going to make some statements instead. – oh and if you click on some of the links in this blog then some of the pictures you see will qualify as NSFW.
Yes the following statements are ‘generalizations’ there are as always exceptions to every rule…and this topic will likely make several of you upset with me…oh well.
Merriam Webster defines exploited as - “to make use of meanly or unfairly for one’s own advantage“
People who are forced to do something are exploited – kids who work in sweatshops because their labor is cheap are exploited,
men/women/boys/girls FORCED to work in the sex industry in thailand are exploited.
Hooters Girls ™ – NOT exploited (chat with one next time you get a chance…ask her how her tips are…she’ll be the one getting into the brand new car she bought with her tip money she made from being exploited)
Women/Men who dance half naked in music video’s aren’t exploited. they are paid, usually well and they probably lined up around the block to be in the video.
Women who pose in nudie mags are not exploited, they auditioned for the gig.
women/men in Porn movies – not exploited – its a job they do because someone will pay and PAY THEM WELL! – watch /read some interviews with Katie Morgan or Jenna Jameson and tell me they are exploited
Strippers/Showgirls/Exotic Dancers etc… (and I’ve worked in many strip bars, and dated many strippers) NOT exploited. Don’t get me wrong someone is being exploited in the strip clubs, but its the patrons, not the dancers, or the owners or the employee’s. – they all make tons of money because guys flock there to see boobies and hope against hope that one of the ‘girls’ will miraculously say “Let Me Take You Home Tonight” mama now its alright…. – and sometimes they do, but i’m here to tell you, its the exception not the rule. Usually the strippers are going home with their boyfriends…and don’t be surprised if thats the bouncer, doorman, bartender, DJ or the owner. – don’t believe me talk to one, she’s probably the attractive mother of 3 with the doctorate who is your boss.
Prostitutes (Not hookers thats different) I’m refering to “Ladies of negotiable affection” in places where prostitution is legal, with medical checks and regulations – generally NOT exploited – (see strippers for the why). (several European countries fall into this category) – yes I’m pro legalized prostitution in case you hadn’t figured that out….but I’m anti-legalized marajuana…oddly enough.
So for the love can we get off the whole ‘those poor women being exploited as sex objects’ bit…besides generally speaking the only people really and truly outraged and the most vocal about it….are the ones who nobody wants to see naked to begin with.
Ok this all came from SEVERAL different conversations i’ve had with folks over the last few months…anyway thats my opinion.
